Within this definition, we do start to find some discrepancies in these values and institutions as what is considered conservative will change from continent to continent, country to country and can be broken down all the way from region to region. While the philosophy of conservatism may be easily defined, depending on their locales, you can find a wide variety and at times disparaging stances on standpoints and upheld values.
Focusing our view a bit here, we will be looking at Conservatism in the United States in our modern political spheres. Many of the priorities found in American Conservatism today will include topics such as a law and order based society, traditional Judeo-Christian values, small government, a strong military and foreign policy, lower taxes, and free enterprise. As easily as you can define a conservative viewpoint for what they support you can also define them by what they oppose.
Conservative viewpoints will be in opposition to abortion, homosexual marriage, communism, socialism, a one world government and excessive environmentalism. Most of these politically conservative views have in recent years been represented by the Republican party. However, in 2009 the Tea Party Movement was founded and they have really spearheaded the conservative movement in the United States. A few of their listed non-negotiable values are:
The national budget must be balanced and deficit spending must end.
Gun ownership is sacred.
Creating jobs for Americans on American soil is essential.
Intrusive government must be stopped.
In this politically charged season the American public with assuredly see a continued change in the landscape of how we view our conservative viewpoints.
We are a group of conservatively minded people who desire to change the way black people have been represented in the media by our pursual of truth and our refusal to live within stereotypes that have been thrust upon us.
